Job Summary

Action in Africa are in search of an engaging, dynamic individual to serve as mentor to young adults and manage two of their education programs: the Secondary Scholarship Program and the Post-Secondary Scholarship Program.  The Education Specialist will be responsible for hosting their applicant selection process and for supporting students through their educational endeavors, monitoring their participation and performance until program graduation.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

  • Tracking all scholarship participants as they move through the program and providing them with support throughout their educational experience
  • Supporting students who are on financial, behavioral, or academic probation
  • Helping students identify various fields of study and potential career paths
  • Communicating with schools and advocating for the well being of all students
  • Acting as a role model for students and holding students accountable for their actions
  • Researching further scholarship and job opportunities for students
  • Maintaining appropriate levels of confidentiality and treating individuals with respect at all times
  • Attending meetings when required
  • Other duties as requested

Qualifications

  • Must have a bachelor’s degree and familiarity with applying to various vocational schools and universities
  • Must be comfortable speaking and writing in English
  • Must be able to use Microsoft Office Suite, email, and Google sheets
  • Experience working with young adults in a mentorship role is considered beneficial
