Ugacof Ltd has been a coffee processor and exporter since 1994. Located in Bweyogerere, Kampala, Ugacof has extensive knowledge of the internal and export markets and a worldwide network of buyers for Robusta and Arabica coffee. Ugacof Ltd has warehouses and processing facilities in Kampala and coffee collection centers in all major coffee-producing regions of Uganda.
The Logistics Support Coordinator will actively contribute to achieving the Logistics department’s objectives by executing related daily tasks with a strong attention to detail and by respecting the set deadlines.
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
Support Logistics Manager in the day-to-day logistics follow up and execution of shipments.
Coordinate with forwarders to position containers and trucks from FOT Kampala to FOB Mombasa.
Set a performance KPI of forwarder/s and share statistics.
Issue loading instructions and update loading plan sheet.
Ensuring daily export loading plan is completed and report reasons for not meeting target.
Check daily logistics report position and ensure all is up to date.
Monitor documentation status after loading, follow up on dispatch of trucks from Kampala and send a recap report to logistics manager.
Recording costs arising due to logistics, documentation, handling and transportation are followed.
Coordinate with shipping lines on availability of containers, booking confirmation and follow up as necessary.
Communicate and update back office/clients on shipment status.
Alert logistics manager of any issue and challenges.
Perform other logistics duties as assigned by the manager.
Qualifications & Education Experience
Minimum B. Com. or equivalent degree.
Clearing and forwarding or other similar qualifications.
Computer literacy in excel, Word and databases.
Working knowledge of computerized accounting packages.
Customs software system.
Experience of shipping and logistics operations.
Proficient in computer operations.
Knowledge of basic commodity trading/commodity markets.
Hard worker – Able to work under pressure.
Integrity-honest and has high level of ethics.
Dependability – reliable, responsible and dependable.
Team work-pleasant with others, displays a good natured cooperative attitude.
Confidentiality – deal with sensitive and confidential matters.
Well organized, detail oriented, efficient and able to work with little or no supervision under tight deadlines.
Fluent spoken English, and the languages of the area of operation.
Ability to work under stress and respond to tight deadlines with minimum supervision and thereby “score the goal”.
KPI - (Key Results Expected)
Timely loadings to fulfill shipment periods.
Zero extra logistics costs.
To check on weekly and ensure logistics report is updated correctly.
Communication flow between Ugandans and back office.
Following up with the documentation team to avoid unnecessary delays.
Send timely loading instructions to production team for planning purposes.
