SPOUTS of Water is a rapidly growing, early-revenue-stage social enterprise that manufactures and distributes ceramic water filters in Uganda and in East Africa with a team of over 40 employees.
About the Position
SPOUTS is looking to hire a talented individual for the Sales Manager (SM) position in our sales and marketing department. The Sales Manager will oversee day-to-day sales operations for our organization as we expand our sales distribution network and market presence in Uganda. He or she will also be responsible for creating an effective sales and distribution strategy to grow a sustainable, impact-driven enterprise. The Sales Manager will directly manage our key sales accounts / partnerships, lead our field sales team, and collaborate with the marketing team. The position reports to the Sales and Marketing Director.
Our ideal candidate will have experiences in sales and marketing, leading teams and managing talent, and working in emerging countries. This role is for those who see a long-term presence in Uganda and are ready to commit to a minimum of 2 years with SPOUTS.
Key Roles & Responsibilities:
Manage and grow key sales accounts including NGOs, local retailers and cooperatives, and microfinance institutions.
Manage a sales team of ~10 field sales staff working throughout the country.
Optimize and standardize sales processes both in the office and in the field.
Develop and share sales metrics on a weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual basis.
Refine sales strategies by identifying and analyzing sales opportunities across Uganda.
Manage P&L for sales team operations.
Oversee sales team hiring and retention decisions, training, and feedback.
Key Qualifications and Skills
Commitment to 2 years with SPOUTS in Kampala, Uganda.
Willingness to travel frequently to field to coordinate with partners.
Experience in managing teams.
Background in developing and managing sales.
Previous success in setting and reaching sales growth targets.
Experience with database management (e.g., Sales force) preferred.
Proficiency in local languages a plus.
