About the Company

Spark MicroGrants was founded in 2010 to prove community-driven development can be done at scale. Spark has designed a novel approach for launching communities facing poverty into action and has partnered with over 150 villages across Rwanda, Uganda, Burundi, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and Ghana.

Job Summary

Spark is working to scale a village action process in partnership with the Government of Rwanda, and leading civil society organizations across East and West Africa. Spark is seeking a Training Manager to build the training tools and team to scale the reach of the Spark process from 170 to 12,000 in the coming years. The Training Manager will oversee curriculum and training tool development, facilitate the ongoing iteration on the village action process, and support the team in executing excellent trainings. The ideal candidate will bring experience in packaging processes for replication, as well as a passion for strengthening civic engagement and a deep-seated belief that communities have the right to determine their own future.

Key Responsibilities

1)     Program Design

  • Facilitate annual review of core facilitation model and training methodology

  • Coordinate process of adapting program design for new partners (such as civil society organizations and local governments)

2)     Content Creation

  • Oversee curriculum development of core facilitation and training guides

  • Support development of context-specific adapted curricula

  • Design tools to enhance trainings such as videos and visual aids

  • Manage Curriculum Officer

3)     Partner Services

  • Organize teams to provide trainings for partners

  • Assess quality of trainings and ensure learnings are continually gathered and used to improve trainings

  • Coordinate network of practitioners

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree, 2+ years experience in governance and community-led development.

  • English fluency required and French desirable.

  • Background in facilitating, training and/or teaching.

  • Experience leading the creation, deployment and improvement of training materials for community-based organizations.
